Biju Bharali – Postdoctoral Fellow

Biju Bharali joined as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Mount Sinai Hospital in March 2024. Her research focuses on identifying early biological markers and predictors of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in the GEM cohort using multi-omics approaches. During her PhD, she worked on meta'omics analyses of the gut microbiome in non-model organisms. Her broader interests include the interpretation of omics data in a biological context, method development for shotgun metagenomic analysis, and the application of machine learning to uncover patterns in complex diseases, including host–microbe interactions and the mechanisms underlying disease pathogenesis. She is currently involved in several collaborative projects applying emerging high-throughput technologies to advance understanding of IBD.
